Freemind - mind mapping software
I downloaded freemind which is a free software and used it to create the mind maps for Geography - http://olevelgeog.blogspot.com/search/label/Mind%20map The software can be downloaded from http://sourceforge.net/projects/freemind/ and I must say it is very user friendly.

My recommendation is Creately mind mapping software . Its a free-premium online diagramming and collaboration product. You can draw mind maps up to 5 free diagrams and it works on all major platforms as it is web based. There are 100s of mind mapping templates and examples to be used freely.
